Police confirmed that 50-year-old Calvin Diggs - who was arrested in Peekskill on a felony charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance in 2011 - was taken into custody early on Wednesday morning after he allegedly robbed the ShopRite supermarket on East Main Street in Cortlandt.

The search for Diggs has been on for days, after he allegedly slipped a cashier a note to a cashier at Stop and Shop in the Beach Shopping Center in Peekskill last week. He was reportedly identified as a suspect after police utilized video surveillance of the initial robbery.

Diggs was arrested and charged with felony third-degree robbery in both Peekskill and Cortlandt. He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. His arraignment in Peekskill is pending.

State police are asking anyone with information regarding Diggs to contact them at (914) 737-7171 or detectives in Peekskill at (914) 737-8000.
