The Lewisboro Police also reported the following incidents:
- A northbound car on Route 121 was stopped April 15 when a Lewisboro police officer noticed that the vehicle lacked both registration and inspection stickers. The driver proved to be a John Jay student, who had a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, but had transferred the license plates from his former vehicle. The officer impounded the car until it could be registered.
- The next morning police observed a northbound vehicle on Route 123, driving 23 mph in a 40 mph zone, and wandering over the yellow line several times. When the car was stopped, police discovered that the driver was unlicensed. The car’s owner, who was also the driver’s boss, came to the scene and received a summons for permitting unlicensed operation of a vehicle. The driver got summonses for disobeying a traffic control device and unlicensed operation. The car was impounded.
- Later that afternoon a police officer was passed by a speeding car on Route 138 in Goldens Bridge. Verifying by radar that the vehicle was traveling at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, the officer followed and stopped the car. Investigation showed the driver’s license had been revoked for previous traffic offenses and he was also wanted for failure to pay child support. The car was impounded and the driver received two summonses.
- In the early evening of the same day, a police officer noted that a northbound car on Route 22 in Goldens Bridge was following too closely behind the car in front. A stop of the vehicle proved the driver was unlicensed. Further investigation revealed that his license had been revoked due to five scofflaw incidents, two of them on the same day. He received summonses for following too closely and driving without a license. His passenger drove the car home.
- A Lewisboro police officer was on Route 121 in Cross River Tuesday evening when he noticed a passing car lacked a front license plate. When he stopped the car he detected an odor of burnt marijuana. Though the driver said he had no marijuana, the front seat passenger produced two glass pipes and a plastic marijuana grinder. The officer removed the men from the car and conducted a search, which produced an additional bag of marijuana. The driver received a summons for lacking a license plate and both the driver and front seat passenger were issued appearance tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana.
- Just an hour later, an officer was on Bouton Street in South Salem when he was passed by a southbound car with blacked-out tail lights. Upon stopping that vehicle, he again noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana. The driver denied having marijuana, but the passenger admitted to having a gram of the drug hidden in her bra. She was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and the driver received a summons for driving with inadequate tail lamps.
