Schraufnagel, who took an abrupt leave of absence in June and resigned in early September, is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with three underage students, with allegations going as far back as 2011.

The former drama teacher, who began working at Greeley in 2003, was known as "Schrauf."

The oldest allegation in the announcement is that Schraufnagel repeatedly engaged in oral sexual conduct with a then-15-year-old student inside the school. The conduct is alleged to have occurred from May 1, 2011 to June 24, 2011.

Last December, the District Attorney's office alleges, Schraufnagel asked a Greeley student to participate in a slideshow by kissing every student in one of his classes while he took photos.

"The next day, another student of the defendant, was directed by the defendant to have the same victim kiss additional male and female students while being photographed," District Attorney's office alleges. "Thereafter, the defendant publicly displayed the slideshow to one of his classes full of students in an attempt to humiliate the students."

The most recent allegation, which is from Oct. 1, 2014 to June 5, 2015, is that Schraufnagel "had a number of instances of inappropriate conversations with strong sexual overtones and sexual contact with another student of the school."

Chappaqua Schools Superintendent Lyn McKay issued a statement reacting to Schraufnagel's charges you can access here.

Schraufnagel surrendered on Wednesday morning after a complaint was brought to New Castle Police and an investigation was conduct, according to the District Attorney's office. He has been charged with one count of third-degree criminal sex act, which is a class E felony; four counts of third-degree sex abuse, which are class B misdemeanors; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, which are class A misdemeanors.

The arraignment was held at New Castle's local court and bail was set at $12,500, according to the District Attorney's office, which adds that Schraufnagel is due to return to court on Dec. 3.

Schraugnagel faces up to four years in prison, the District Attorney's office ads.

According to a post on blogger.com, Schraufnagel lives in Manhattan with his husband Troye.
