Darrin Dyckoff, a 28-year-old Amawalk resident and Yorktown High School graduate, was found by divers Tuesday morning at 9:50 a.m., Yorktown Police said.

Dyckoff was on a small rubber raft in the lake when he shouted for help before plunging under the water in the lake. Bystanders had attempted to help him but could not locate him after he became submerged in the water, according to police.

Rescue operations continued for hours following his cry for help, which occurred around 2 p.m Monday.

Signs reading "Beach closed," "No swimming," and "No lifeguard on duty" were posted near the entrance to the beach.

According to his Linkedin page, Dyckoff worked at the Dunkin Donuts in Shop Rite in Cortlandt Manor. He had worked as a food service manager at Wayback Burgers in Yorktown, the profile said.

Members of the Yorktown Fire Department dive team, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department and Mohegan Fire Department rescue all responded.
