The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the man was crossing from the west side of the parkway over to the east side at Lawrence Street, according to Westchester County Police.

The driver who struck the pedestrian stopped at the scene along with his female passenger. Three witnesses also stopped and were questioned by police.

Kieran O’Leary, public information officer for the Westchester County Police, said that the driver has been cooperative and alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.

Police and the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corp. attempted to resuscitate the victim who sustained serious injuries to no avail. He was taken to St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are attempting to notify the victim’s family, as well as determine who had the right of way at the time of the accident.
