NEW CASTLE, N.Y. - A large tree in front of 159 Harriman Road took down power lines and blocked the road when it fell Wednesday afternoon, New Castle police said.

Con Edison responded to the scene and is working on the problem. New Castle police estimate that it will take overnight to open the road and restore power to Harriman Road and parts of Byram Lake Road.

New Castle Department of Public Works crews will be working in the area Thursday cleaning up the debris. Police are advising residents to drive with caution in the area of 159 Harriman Road and to report power outages to Con Ed at 800-75-CONED.
