Good day, everyone.

I am thrilled to report that all power is restored in Somers. Thank you all for your patience and neighborliness during the past few weeks. The shelter has been closed. Many thanks to our wonderful team who volunteered tirelessly there. Debris cleanup continues from our dedicated highway crew, who despite many days and long hours of hurricane cleanup had our roads broom clean Thursday morning after over six inches of snowfall. Police, fire and other emergency workers also put in long hours. The county has been a great resource and partner to the town throughout and continues to be. A FEMA disaster center has been set up at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave. in White Plains, to help individuals and businesses with recovery. Click here for more information.

The State of Emergency in Somers was lifted Thursday at 10 a.m. We are getting questions about Halloween for the children. Now that normalcy has returned we suggest the following. If anyone wishes to trick-or-treat with their children, do so on Sunday. This is entirely optional for both children and homeowners. If you wish to participate, turn on your porch light.

Veterans Day is this Sunday, Nov 11. The parade begins at the Somers Town House at 10:30 a.m. sharp, with the ceremony in Ivandell Cemetery at 11 a.m. Let’s make this the biggest turnout ever to honor our vets; never forget, they are heroes all.

Thank you,

Mary Beth Murphy
