Pauline Patricia Waller, 64, Former Chappaqua Resident

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Pauline Patricia Jara Waller, 64, of Cortlandt Manor, died Saturday, Sept. 12, following a battle with cancer.

She was born to Raul and Grace Jara on Oct. 20, 1950, in Santiago, Chile. She graduated from Mary Louis Academy in 1968 and received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Fordham University in 1972. She earned a master’s degree in business from Pace University in 1988.

She married Christopher Waller in 1977, and they lived in Yonkers, Chappaqua and Geneva, Switzerland, before settling in Cortlandt Manor in 1993. She excelled in the field of advertising, marketing and graphic design. Besides owning her own marketing business for several years, she held positions of leadership in organizations such as UNICEF, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Pitney Bowes and the Girl Scouts of the USA.

She was an active parishioner at St. Augustine's Church in Ossining. She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed painting, art, music, reading, cooking and being close to the sea. She was a member and then later elected president of the local Toastmasters Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Grace Jara; a daughter, Christine Murphy (Ryan); a granddaughter; a sister and brother-in-law; three brothers; four sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law, Natalie Waller.

A wake will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 4-8 p.m. at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m. at St. Christopher's Church on Albany Post Road in Buchanan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the Girl Scouts of the USA or Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam.
