Nancy J. Ratliff, 74, of Portsmouth, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Chappaqua, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016 at her home.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1942 in Rochester, the daughter of the late Harold L. and Dorothy Johnson Ratliff.
Raised in nearby Pittsford, she was a member of Brighton High School’s Class of 1960 and graduated from Smith College in 1964.
Ratliff founded Office Resources, a provider of office support services for small to mid-sized companies. After selling Office Resources, she joined Telemarketing Concepts, a direct marketing company, from which she retired in 1993.
Ratliff was a member of Portsmouth’s Friends of the South End and the League of Women Voters. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, restoring historic homes, and traveling. She was known for her wit and clear-headed observations of life.
Surviving family members include her daughters from her marriage to Richard Marshuetz, Christina Marshuetz Ferguson and her husband Richard Gooner of Durham, NC and Katherine Baird Double of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Isabella and Hudson Double of Chapel Hill; cousins, David Hubner and his wife Michael, Joan Donaldson and her husband Bob, Judy Nielson, Betty-Lou Heffernan, David Johnson, and Lynda Lindquist. Ms. Ratliff is also survived by many good friends and her faithful dog Sophie.
