Memorial Arrangements Set For Former Mount Kisco Mayor Henry Kensing

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Details of the wake and funeral for former Mount Kisco Mayor Henry "Hank" V. Kensing have been set.

The wake, which is scheduled to take place at Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, will be on Friday, Oct. 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. It will be held at Saint Francis Church.

Kensing, who served as mayor, as a village trustee and as a village justice, died on Monday at age 83.

An obituary for Kensing has been posted to Cassidy-Flynn's website. It notes the storied history of Kensing and his family, including how his parents were the first to be married at the current version of Saint Francis.

Kensing's obituary notes that he was a 1951 graduate of Regis High School and a 1955 graduate of Fordham University. Kensing subsequently served in the army for two years, his obituary notes, adding that he attained the rank of first lieutenant. He was admitted to the New York State bar and had a career as a corporate lawyer, his obituary notes, including working for the Dynamics Corporation of America until his 1998 retirement.

In terms of public service, Kensing's obituary notes that he served as a village trustee from 1963 to 1967, as mayor from 1967 to 1981, and as a village justice from 1990 to 2005.

"His political career was characterized by diligent and careful attention to needs of the people of Mount Kisco, and by his even temper, integrity, and graceful ease in working with others," the obituary states. "He was involved in all aspects of the civic and community life of his beloved hometown, participating in and offering instrumental support to local organizations too numerous to list - among them the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Northern Westchester Hospital Center, the Mount Kisco Day Care Center, A-Home, Open Door Family Medical Centers, F.I.S.H., and Neighbors Link."
