SOMERS, N.Y. -- Matthew M. Swetonic, 73, most recently of Somers, died Monday, April 18.
Swetonic was born in Brooklyn in October 1942 to the late Andrew Swetonic and Margaret Pollock Swetonic. He was raised in Pittsburgh and attended the University of Pittsburgh, a member of the graduating class of 1964. He went on to obtain a master's degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism.
In 1976, he married Ruth Maguire in New York City. They spent most of their married life in Chappaqua, where they raised their sons, Andrew and Nick. He had a long career in public relations, working primarily for Hill and Knowlton and later for The Dilenschneider Group in New York City.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and his sons, Andrew and Nick; and his grandchildren Bailey, Stella, Cali and Zoe.
Visitation was scheduled for Thursday, April 21, from 7-9 p.m. at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville.
