Mary Gallagher, 90, Of Chappaqua, Worked For Airline In Flying Boat Days

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Mary Shiland Gallagher died April 8. She was 90.

Gallagher was born Nov. 25, 1922, in St. John's, Newfoundland, to Bernard A. Norris and Alicia Fitzpatrick. In 1946, she worked for American Overseas Airlines in Gander, in the early days of commercial air travel when flying boats were still used. In 1953, she moved to Chappaqua. After her first husband died, she married Ralph S. Gallagher in 1969.

Gallagher was a member in the Twigs and Junior League of Northern Westchester and a member of the Mt. Kisco Country Club.

Gallagher is survived by four children, Alicia S. Rounds, Andrew Shiland V, Harriette S. McDonough, Elizabeth S. Shoemaker; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, six stepchildren, Mary A., Catherine, Eeo, John, Ralph S. Jr. and Charles G. Gallagher; and sisters, Alicia N. Eaton and Kathleen Norris. She was predeceased by her first husband, Andrew Shiland.

Calling hours are Friday, April 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at C assidy-Flynn Funeral Home , Mt.Kisco. Funeral Mass Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at The Church of St. John and St.Mary (Little Church) in Chappaqua.
