Katharine Wolfe Rice, 88, Former Chappaqua Resident

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Katharine Wolfe Rice of New Paltz, formerly of Chappaqua, died Nov. 30. She was 88.

Rice was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Radnor, Pa., and graduated from Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pa., with a degree in English. She was a Westchester County resident for more than 50 years, having moved to Chappaqua in 1958.

Rice is survived by her husband, Joseph of New Paltz; son, Walter of Kerhonkson; daughter, Carol of Wyckoff, N.J.; sons, Philip (Joanne Hickey) of Ossining, Alan (Holly Wescott); a grandson; two step-grandsons; and a nephew and niece. She was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Curtis of Simsbury, Conn.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the First Congregational Church of Chappaqua. Burial will be private.
