Funeral Arrangements Announced For Croton EMS Worker, Ex-HS Athlete, 20

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Memorial services have been announced for Charles Ellison, 20, of Croton-on-Hudson, who died on Monday, March 27 after an 8-month battle with brain cancer, surrounded by family and friends.

Visiting hours are Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton-on-Hudson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Ossining, 34 South Highland Ave, Ossining.

Born on April 29, 1996, in Sleepy Hollow to Rich and Betsy Ellison, Ellison was a 2014 graduate of Croton-Harmon High School, where he was a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams. 

Ellison was a junior at Tulane University in New Orleans, majoring in mathematics, with plans to become an actuary. 

Besides school and his friends and family, Ellison was passionate about being a volunteer member of Croton EMS, becoming certified as an EMT in 2014 and receiving the Executive Officers Award in 2016. 

He also had a zest for life, enjoying new experiences such as skydiving and traveling, socializing with friends, spending time with family and his dog Gracie, attending concerts, playing his guitar, and finding the fun in everyday activities. 

Ellison is survived by his parents; his sister, Natalie; his grandparents John and Karen Fouracre and John and Jean Ellison; his aunts and uncles, Doug (Katie) Fouracre, Janet (Allen) Porter, Sheila (Howard) Smith, and Mike (Lisa) Ellison; and many cousins, great aunts and great uncles. 

His family wishes to thank the staff of Westchester Medical Center for the dedicated, supportive and kind care given to him.
