Ex-Westchester Resident Gloria DiPaola, Known As 'Mom' To Many, Dies At 67

Gloria DiPaola, who has lived in Wappingers Falls since 1974 and who was formerly a Yonkers resident, died on Sunday, Oct. 1, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in the Bronx on Oct. 21, 1949, DiPaola was the daughter of Mary (D’Auria) Delasantra of Wappingers Falls and the late Victor Delasantra and was known as "mom" to many in the community.

DiPaola worked as an administrative assistant for more than 20 years and also sold Avon products. She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Falls and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as donating many blankets to the Dyson Center.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Frank and Jennifer DiPaola of LaGrange; Christina and Jon-Paul Aubry of Wingdale; Nicole DiPaola of Wappingers Falls; Joseph Esposito of Fishkill, and Ryan and Amy Miller of Poughkeepsie. Her grandchildren included Amanda, Brooke, Brendon, Brianne, Walter, Samantha, Mason, Jesse, Bella and Joshua; and her great-grandchildren, Joey and Piper. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her son, Joseph DiPaola; and her brother, Richard Delasantra.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Falls, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dyson Center or the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
