Golub sat on the New Castle Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), the Chappaqua Library Board and on the New Castle Fire District. No. 1 Board of Fire Commissioners, which governs the Chappaqua Fire Department. Golub was appointed to the ZBA and elected to his other two seats.

"Gerry was a fixture in the Town - his volunteer positions speak volumes about the character of the man," the town notes in a statement posted to its Facebook page.

Golub also previously served on the town's Conservation Board, the statement notes. He was currently serving as chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners, according to the statement.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Bonnie and their children and grandchildren," the town adds.

Golub's funeral is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and will be held at Bet Torah in Mount Kisco, the town notes.

Bet Torah is located at 60 Smith Ave.
