Carolyn Clemenza, D.D.S., Chappaqua Resident

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Carolyn Clemenza, D.D.S., wife of Thomas A. Dixon Jr., passed away peacefully at her Chappaqua home Saturday, Aug. 1, after a long illness. She was 53.

In her own practice since 1998 in Mount Kisco, Clemenza was best-known for being a warm and caring dentist as well as a loyal friend. She lived by the motto "always do the right thing" for the patients. She was passionate about innovative technology and procedures in dentistry. She took joy in restoring patient's smiles with dental implants. It made her happy every time she was able to give one of her patients an entire set of teeth in a single day.

Outside the office, Clemenza found great pleasure in cooking and baking. She often could be found relaxing with a good cookbook or busy in the kitchen creating desserts and birthday cakes for family, friends and her staff. One of the things that gave her tremendous enjoyment was spending time with her family and hosting holiday events in her home.

Born in the Bronx on Aug. 30, 1961, daughter of the late Vito Clemenza and Camille Pandofelli of Naples, Fla. Clemenza graduated from Fordham University in 1983 and Georgetown School of Dentistry in 1987.

Besides her husband, Tom, she is survived by her mother, Camielle; her brother, Dr. John W. Clemenza, and his wife, Vassie, and their children, William, Camilyn, and Patrice, of Hermitage, Pa.; her brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas G. Peters and his children, Thomas G. Peters Jr. and Christopher W. Peters of Farmington, Conn.; and several loving cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mariann Clemenza- Peters, in 2013.

Friends may call at the Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 E. Main St., Mount Kisco, on Monday, Aug. 3, from 3-5:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John's and St. Mary's Church in Chappaqua. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are being made to The Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
