CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Betty Lucille Jarvis (Millbern), 87, died on Aug. 26 in Asheville, N.C.
Jarvis was born in Monticello, Ind., on Sept. 8, 1925 to H.A. and Marjorie Millbern. She graduated from Indiana University. with a B.A. in Chemistry and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She later earned a Masters in Education and taught first grade in the Chappaqua school district for 20 years.
After retiring, she moved to Asheville and was a fierce competitor at the carrd table at the Deerfield Retirement Community.
Betty is survived by her daughters Barbara Kuhn of Louisville and Jamie Jarvis (Greg Dorsey) of Portland, Maine; her granddaughter, Sarah Cook (Greg Cook); great grandson, Austin Cook, also of Louisville, KY; sister, Pam Wampler (Bill) of LaPorte, Ind.; sister-in-law, Peg Millbern of Crawfordsville Ind.; and a host of dear nieces, nephews, and their families. She also leaves her extended family at Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville, NC.
A memorial service will be held at the Deerfield Retirement Community Health Care Chapel on Friday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
