PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York State Police responded to a two-car personal injury auto accident that occurred on Interstate 84, just east of Ludingtonville Road, on Friday. Investigation revealed that a 2012 Jeep, operated by 27-year-old Myra Babar, 27, of East Fishkill, traveling eastbound when she failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and exited the southern shoulder, police said. The Jeep subsequently struck a rock embankment before coming to rest in the driving lane of I-84, according to police. A 2007 tractor-trailer, operated by Eric D. Brooks, 31, of Perry, Ga., was also traveling eastbound on I-84 and unable to avoid striking the Jeep and both vehicles exited the roadway, police said. Babar was transported by Air Life Net to Westchester Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition, according to police. The crash closed eastbound I-84 or approximately six hours and was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
