Smith was approved as the board chair at the White Plains Hospital’s annual board meeting late last month.  He succeeds J. Michael Divney, who served as board chair since 2010.

Smith has been a member of the White Plains Hospital Board since 2004 and has held the position of vice chair of the board and chair of the finance committee from 2012 to 2015. He has also served on various board committees, including the executive, management compensation, audit, legal and nominating committees.

“It is truly an honor to be able to carry the torch forward for White Plains Hospital," said Smith.  "The hospital has always been known for providing exceptional health care as a community hospital, but as impressive has been its ability to remain on the cutting edge of advanced clinical care during these times of rapid change, which have been most acute over the past five years.  I look forward to helping the Hospital achieve its objectives going forward."

Smith is chairman, chief investment officer and founding partner of Third Wave Global Investors. He holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an undergraduate degree in business from the University of Florida.

“I am pleased to welcome Larry Smith as White Plains Hospital’s newest Board Chair,” said Susan Fox, president and CEO of White Plains Hospital.  “Larry has invaluable experience in finance and business, and has already contributed so much of his time and knowledge to White Plains Hospital. We are very fortunate to have him as our Board Chair during a time of great change in the healthcare industry and growth for our hospital.”
