What's Happening This Week in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. – Every week, many New Castle organizations and committees have community events or convene for public meetings. Here is the New Castle community calendar for the week:

• Great Decisions , a community current events discussion group, will meet at the Chappaqua Library at 10 a.m. Monday The discussion will be led by Geoff Kent.

• New Castle Town Board will convene for a board meeting at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the town hall assembly room. The board will be discussing construction plans for South Greeley Avenue and King Street.

• Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education will meet to adopt a budget for the 2012-13 school year at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at Horace Greeley High School. Visit the district's website to see the complete agenda .

• The Chappaqua PTA and the Special Education Committee are co-sponsoring an event titled "Kids on Meds: Navigating the Complexities of Psychiatric Medicine" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chappaqua Library. Kevin Kalikow will discuss the different families of psychiatric medicines most commonly prescribed for children, review both the intended purposes and side effects of these medicines and provide guidance to help parents evaluate whether medication is appropriate for their child. The event is free.

• Chappaqua Memoir Writing Group is having its monthly memoir writing workshop at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Chappaqua Library. The workshop invited residents to share "snapshots" of people and events in their lives. There is no age limit to joining the group, though consistent attendance is required.
