What's Happening This Week in Chappaqua

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – A Memorial Day parade, a New Castle Castle Town Board work session and school concerts are among the events happening around New Castle this week. For even more things to do, check out our Events page.

Monday, May 28

Memorial Day parade: 10:30 a.m. Ceremonies before the parade will begin at the Victory Corners Monument at the intersection of King Street and Bedford Road. The parade will then assemble in Ridgewood Terrace and begin marching at 11 a.m. The honor guard, marshals, clergy, town board, school board and library board members will assemble with World War II, Korean War, Iraq-Afghanistan veterans and seniors on Ridgewood Terrace between Bedford Road and Elm Street.

Tuesday, May 29

Great Decisions: 10 a.m. The community current events discussion group will tackle the issue of the Syrian uprising. The event will be facilitated by Jack Adjami. Chappaqua Library.

Wednesday, May 30

Zoning Board of Appeals: 7:15 p.m. The board will hear proposals for zoning ordinances, including from the Millwood Fire District about its new firehouse. New Castle Town Hall, assembly room.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus Concert: 9:30 a.m. Robert E. Bell Middle School, auditorium.

Thursday, May 31

Book Lovers: 1 p.m. Retired reading specialist Barbara Bernstein will lead a discussion on "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson. Chappaqua Library.

Seventh Grade Chorus Concert: 9:30 a.m. Robert E. Bell Middle School, auditorium.

Lecture: The Complex Relationship of Picasso and Matisse: 7:30 p.m. Marcy Freeman, a visual artist with two master's degrees in art history, will examine the art, the rivalry and the friendship of Matisse and Picasso. The free event is at the Chappaqua Library.
