Supervisor Rob Greenstein confirmed on Friday that the entity listed in the lease resolution, Chappaqua Station New York, LLC, is the Chases' company.
The proposed lease is for 10 years, includes a $3,300 monthly rent at the start and three-percent annual rental increases. The Chases' company will also be responsible for water, electric, insurance and fuel costs, along with providing a deposit worth two months' of rent.
The potential approval of the lease is the latest development in a years-along saga regarding rental of the station. Talks fell apart last year with Carla Gambesca, owner of Via Vanti! in Mount Kisco for a proposed restaurant.
Last May, the Town Board approved a lease with an entity controlled by Leslie Lampert, a former Chappaqua resident who owns Mount Kisco eateries Ladle of Love and Cafe of Love. That lease also had a $3,300 starting monthly rent, along with a 10-year term that included an optional five-year renewal.
Lampert had proposed opening a new eatery called Love at 10514.
Just a month later, the Town Board voted to rescind the lease with Lampert's company. The board was facing the possible permissive referendum, which was backed by the Chases and Gambescia, that could have resulted in the lease being overturned.
If the new lease is approved, it will also be subject to a permissive referendum, which would only be triggered if enough petition signatures are filed.
The Chases, along withe Lampert and Gambescia, were among those who vied for leasing the restaurant space during a Request for Proposals (RFP) round in 2014. However, the latter two did not enter the fray when the town launched a second round last fall.
