The Chappaqua Orchestra Opens Concert Series

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - The Chappaqua Orchestra opened the Summer Sounds Concert Series in the newly constructed gazebo at the New Castle Recreation Field Wednesday night, in front of crowds seated adjacent to New Castle Hall. This the 14th year the  Chappaqua Orchestra has being the opening act of the series.

“The new gazebo will allow us to have a larger orchestra than in the past,” said orchestra conductor Michael Shapiro. “I really want to play there (at the new gazebo). It’s really glorious. People come and picnic. We get thousands of people to come every year.”

The Chappaqua Orchestra opened with an overture from Beethoven, followed by “The Consecration of the House” orchestra from Beethoven. Following the Consecration of the “Gazebo”, The Chappaqua Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and then conclude with Stars and Stripes from John Philip Souza.

The Chappaqua Orchestra is just one of four acts in the month-long Summer Sounds Concert Series, held every Wednesday this July.

Elvis Presley will come to Chappaqua next Wednesday, July 13. Tony Liquori , Jr. will play the greatest hits from “The King” right at the Recreation Field on South Greeley Avenue in Chappaqua.

All concerts this month will begin at 7 p.m.
