Team New Castle Concedes, Congratulates Democratic Winners

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. – With all the ballots officially counted from the November general election, the group of Republican candidates who make up the political alliance Team New Castle, announced on Tuesday that it is accepting the votes and will not seek a recount.

In the group’s concession letter , Bob Kirkwood, Rich Diefenbach and Kevin Moore congratulated the New Castle Democratic Party on winning all supervisor, council, and justice seats.

With the concession, Susan Carpenter (D) is New Castle's official supervisor-elect, replacing the retiring Barbara Gerrard. Incumbent Elise Kessler Mottel (D) retains her seat on the town board while Jason Chapin (D) will fill the other seat made available by Michael Wolfensohn's retirement. The seats for town justices were both won by incumbent Democratic candidates Douglas Kraus and David Zuckerman.

Following the concession, the Democratic Party released a joint statement: "We thank voters for supporting us in the Town election on November 8. We congratulate our opponents and their supporters for raising important issues for fair and open discussion. We look forward to working with them, and all residents of the Town, to make New Castle an even better Town than it already is."
