Soaring Temps Heating Up Chappaqua This Week

After a weekend of cool, breezy temperatures, the first sizzling heatwave of the season in Chappaqua is on its way.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will jump the mid-90s with increased humidity. Both days there are slight chances for an afternoon thunderstorm.

By Friday, temperatures  are expected to settle back into the upper-80s with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

The Daily Chappaqua has a few tips to help beat the heat:

1. Come inside and hang out in the Chappaqua Library. The air-conditioned building has thousands of books for children, teens and adults. The Friends of the Chappaqua Library will also be hosting its annual book sale Thursday through Sunday in the air-conditioned theater so stop by for some great cheap books and some cooled air.

2. The Horace Greeley House on 100 King Street is another cool place to stop while in downtown Chappaqua. Stop by and take a tour with Susan Blumenthal or any of her knowledgable tour guides. It's a great way to learn about Chappaqua's most historic resident and duck out of the tropical heat as well.

3. If you're on South Greeley Avenue and hungry and thirsty, stop in one of the many restaurants downtown for a bite to eat and something cold to drink. Most restaurants are air-conditioned and the neighborhood's reputation as a foodie's delight ripples throughout the county.
