PLATTEKILL, N.Y. – Chappaqua resident David Winoker, 49, may have accidentally knocked out skydiving instructor Alexander Chulsky, 25, during their fatal tandem-jump last Friday, police said.

Plattekill Police Chief Joe Ryan told the Times-Herald Record that Chulsky's neck was injured and a blow from Winoker's helmet may have been the cause. Investigators originally believed that Chulsky fell unconscious from a pre-existing medical condition.

Ryan said an investigation into the accident is still ongoing and a final determination on the deaths should come from medical examiners in the next few weeks.

Winoker was the president of Winoker Realty, a Manhattan company his father, Sidney, started in the 1980s. The company owns several office buildings in Manhattan, many of them in the Garment District.

Winoker is survived by his wife Jillian, two daughters Hillary and Alyson, and a son Jared. He was remembered in a funeral service Sunday.
