Police Investigate Identity Thefts in Chappaqua

CHAPPAQUA N.Y. -An Old Lyme Road resident told police last week that someone had used his American Express card without his permission.

The high amount of charges on the credit card resulted in the department treating the case as second-degree identity theft, a felony. No arrests have been made and the case is being investigated by the detective division.

Another identity theft was reported the following day, when an Old House Lane resident told police that two BlackBerry Smartphones had been ordered using her Verizon account.

According to police, the resident was contacted by Verizon after the orders were made and were subsequently canceled. The incident is under investigation and is being treated by police as attempted identity theft, a misdemeanor.
