Peekskill School Superintendent James Willis Stepping Down

PEEKSKILL - Peekskill City School District Superintendent James Willis announced that he is retiring as the District’s Superintendent at Wednesday’s school board meeting.

Willis’ last day in the district will be July 12, according to a statement released by the district Thursday.

A statement by Willis in the release said that his decision to step down from the position was a personal one. He plans to retire so that he may spend more time with his family, whom which he has been separated from while serving the district. His wife, four children and grandchildren currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky.

“It has been my deepest pleasure working with Peekskill’s dedicated staff and members of the community,” Willis said. “I will truly miss Peekskill.”

The Board of Education has already begun meeting to discuss finding a new Superintendent.
