Nysdot Paving Taconic to Prepare for Extra Traffic

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Southbound ramps on the Taconic State Parkway heading to and from Route 134 will be closing on Thursday and Friday for some pre-construction construction.

With an overhaul of the northbound AMVETS Bridge beginning on March 26, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is patching up several of its southbound lanes where the traffic will be shifted during the eight-month construction.

"In anticipation of all the extra traffic that we're gonna have on the southbound side, we're going to pave the ramps," said Sue Stepp, Hudson Valley regional spokesperson for the NYSDOT.

Stepp also said the NYSDOT will carry out additional paving in areas south of the AMVETS Bridge next week "where the pavement got a little roughed up over the winter."

Thursday and Friday's Route 134 paving is expected to take place daily between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
