CHAPPAQUA, N.Y.The New Castle Town Board met Tuesday evening at New Castle Town Hall to discuss, among other things, the parking resolution for merchants affected by construction on the South Greeley parking lot.
The project is the latest stage of the Chappaqua Hamlet Vision Plan. The resolution approved by the town board calls for each merchant to receive two spots in the rear parking lot along South Greeley Avenue.
The South Greeley Parking Lot Project calls for new drainage and sanitary sewers along South Greeley Avenue as well as the rerouting of utilities to the rear of the buildings on South Greeley. Utilities will be moved underground to get rid of the above ground utility poles.
An island and divider will be placed along the rear of the building parallel to South Greeley Avenue to create a loop for easier parking and truck access. Lighting will be added to the rear of the parking lot as well. Currently, there are only lights on the Woodburn Avenue entrance area of the lot. Construction began on the parking lot June 13 and is expected to be completed by Labor Day.
The New Castle Town Board also approved:
The use of town property for a Chappaqua bake sale this fall to fight childhood hunger.
The use of the New Castle Town Hall parking lot by the Saw Mill River Audubon Society for its fall bird seed sale.
The Board also authorized Big Brothers, Big Sisters to place a clothing bin at the New Castle Recycling Center on Hunts Lane.
