New Castle Police Warn Residents Of Fake Con Edison Phone Calls

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- The New Castle police department is urging residents to beware of fraudulent calls from scammers pretending to be calling from Con Edison threatening to discontinue service immediately if a past due bill is not paid immediately over the phone.

Police advise residents to hang up, call Con Edison directly at 1-800-75CONED and select option 2. Residents may then confirm directly with Con Edison whether or not they owe past due payments.
