New Castle Official Leaving for White Plains Job

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. - The New Castle Town Board has accepted the resignation of Wayne Bass, the assistant superintendent of New Castle's recreation and parks department. Bass, who has been with New Castle since 2007, will be leaving for White Plains, where he has been appointed the city’s recreation and parks commissioner.

"We're very sorry to have lost (Bass), but he's going on to a wonderful position in White Plains," said Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter. "We hope we can replace him with somebody as good. It's a big loss to the community, but we wish him well as his new position."

Bass also worked as a recreation supervisor in White Plains from 2003-2007. His resignation is effective as of Friday, Jan. 13,.

"I worked with Wayne as a member of New Castle C.A.R.E.S. and he was phenomenal," said council member Jason Chapin. "He did everything we could have asked and more, and I hope that we can get somebody who is as good as Wayne."

Also resigning his post, effective immediately, was David Wolfsohn, a member of New Castle Community Media Center's (NCCMC) board of directors.

"Dave Wolfsohn has been a terrific addition to NCCMC and we wish him the best," said Carpenter.
