New Castle May Take Board Meetings on the Road

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. - The New Castle Town Board, which currently hold its meetings in the Chappaqua-based Town Hall, may soon be taking its show on the road. The board hopes that in 2012 it will be able to occasionally host meetings in Millwood and other areas on the west end of town.

"We would like to have some of the town board meetings over on that side of town," said incoming board member Jason Chapin.

By traveling to other parts of town, the board is hoping to encourage more community participation from all New Castle residents. Chapin said that while the proposed ward referendum was voted down, the petition to have it included on the Nov. 8 ballot caught his attention.

"I think we can hopefully convert that interest, that willingness to get involved to action because we certainly need as much help as we can get," Chapin said.

A potential host site for the meetings could be Millwood Firehouse No. 2, which is where the Millwood Task Force currently holds its meetings. According to Chapin, moving the meetings would be contingent being able to broadcast them on New Castle's Community Media Center, which is a requirement.
