New Castle Distracted-Driving Crackdown Yields 763 Tickets

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- New Castle Police issued 763 tickets this past year as part of a crackdown on distracted-driving offenses, Supervisor Rob Greenstein announced.

In addition to a crackdown by police, town has made publicity push to warn vehicle operators against distracted driving, which can include activities such as texting.

The data released also break down the tickets by gender and age. In total, for 2015 415 tickets were issued to males and 348 were issued to females.

In terms of age range, the tickets issued came in at the following, according to Greenstein:

Ages 16 - 20: 30

Ages 21 - 25: 86

Ages 26 - 30: 83

Ages 31 - 35: 88

Ages 36 - 40: 108

Ages 41 - 45: 106

Ages 46 - 50: 100

Ages 51 - 55: 69

Ages 56 - 60: 56

Ages 61 - 65: 25

Ages 65 and over: 12
