Issued on Monday night, the order prohibits car owners from parking or leaving their vehicles unattended on any New Castle street or highway, according to the town's statement, which said that any car left in this manner will be towed at the owner's expense.
The order comes in anticipation of a Nor'easter expected to drop substantial amounts of snow across much of the region. In response, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday issued a statewide state of emergency.
According to forecasters, the snow is expected to fall at a rate of 2-4 inches per hour at time. In total, the storm is expected to drop as much as 2 feet of snow on parts of the region with higher local amounts possible. In addition to the heavy precipitation, the storm will likely bring heavy winds with gusts as high as 55 mph, according to forecasters.
