NEW CASTLE, N.Y. Robert Deary, who took over comptroller duties in New Castle earlier this year, has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award continues a streak of wins in governmental accounting and finacial reporting for the town.
Since 1996, when I was comptroller and submitted the first application for this award, the Comptroller has been awarded this Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, said Town Administrator Penny Paderewski in a statement. We are proud that our new comptroller has continued our tradition of excellence."
Deary oversees budget preparation along with Paderewski, and prepared and filed monthly reports. The comptroller's office also manages the day-to-day financial operations of the town.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR, said the GFOA in a release.
