"Blood donations fall off dramatically during the summer when vacations and travel occupy more of everyone’s time. The need for blood, however, does not decline and supplies rapidly dwindle," the town wrote on its website.

To help with the shortage, New Castle is asking its residents to donate at the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Corps' special Summer Blood Drive.

The drive will take place at the Pleasantville Fire House, 75 Washington Ave., on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m.

All donors will be entered into a raffle to receive two tickets to the 2014 Super Bowl.
