Nearly 1,500 Con Edison customers and around 150 NYSEG customers in Westchester were without power as the “bomb cyclone” continues to pummel the area with snow and howling winds.
As of just before 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, there were more than 100 outages reported in Westchester, affecting 1,299 of Con Edison’s 348,198 customers in the county.
In Yonkers, 457 customers were without power, with an estimated time of restoration around 2:30 p.m. Another 283 customers in Mount Pleasant are without service, though it is expected to be restored at approximately 3 p.m. In Yorktown, more than 400 customers will see their power restored before 2:30 p.m.
In Northern Westchester, NYSEG is reporting that 143 of their 33,012 customers are currently without power.
Other outages have been reported in Mount Vernon (26 customers); Pelham (58); New Rochelle (1); Mamaroneck (5); Harrison (7); Briarcliff Manor (35); Pleasantville (1); New Castle (7); Mount Kisco (1); Bedford (2); Ossining (2); Croton-on-Hudson (2); and Cortlandt (2).
The storm is expected to pick up in intensity as the day goes on. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a State of Emergency earlier on Thursday for Westchester, though he warned that “the situation is going to get worse as the day goes on.”
