Millwood Train Station Demolished Wednesday

MILLWOOD, N.Y. – The unused Millwood Train Station along Station Road was demolished Wednesday morning, less than a week after the plan was announced by Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter.

Originally, town officials had planned to move the station from its current space onto the county property, but Carpenter said the building was not salvageable. She said the county has expressed interest in re-building a replica of the station and leasing it out for commercial use along the North County Trailway.

"This way you’ll end up with something new and usable with an inside that is in good shape that can be adapted," Carpenter said at a May 3 Millwood Task Force Meeting. "It’s not that small. I’d like to see it be able to be used for more than just the summer months when people are on the trail."

According to Carpenter, the town has already been working with an architectural design program at Northern Westchester BOCES to make computerized models of the new building.
