Metro-North Schedule Changes For Labor Day Weekend

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making travel simple this Labor Day weekend, with several additional “getaway” trains operating on all three Metro-North Railroad lines Friday afternoon, and normal service over the weekend.

Friday, Aug. 31 

On the Hudson Line, there will be extra trains departing Grand Central Terminal at 1:46 p.m., 2:40 p.m., 3:25 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. that will be stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie. The 5:31 p.m. train to Poughkeepsie and 5:34 p.m. train to Beacon will be combined, leaving at the latter time, and making all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.

Three trains that usually depart Grand Central will not be operating. The 5:57 p.m. to Croton-Harmon, the 6:12 p.m. to Poughkeepsie and the 6:20 p.m. to Croton-Harmon will not be operating.

On the Harlem Line, an extra train will depart Grand Central at 1:45 p.m., stopping at all stations between Chappaqua and Southeast. A 3:14 p.m. train will stop at Harlem-125th Street, then White Plains and North White Plains only. A 3:37 p.m. “getaway” train will stop at Harlem-125th Street and then all stations between Goldens Bridge and Southeast. A 4:08 p.m. will stop at all stations between Chappaqua and Southeast after first stopping at Harlem-125th Street.

The 5:25 p.m. train to Brewster, the 5:54 p.m. train to Crestwood, the 6:02 p.m. train to Wassaic and the 7:27 p.m. train to North White Plains will not be operating on Friday. The 6:09 p.m. train to Brewster will make additional stops at Goldens Bridge, Purdy’s and Croton Falls. A Wassaic shuttle will connect with the train at Southeast.

The New Haven line will be especially busy. There will be an extra train leaving Grand Central at 12:04 p.m., 1:04 p.m., 2:04 p.m. 2:31 p.m. and 4:02 p.m. that will stop at all stations between Fairfield and New Haven. A 1:59 p.m. and 2:59 p.m. train will make all stops between Stamford and South Norwalk. A 2:28 p.m. train will stop at Harlem-125th Street, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Harrison. The 3:04 p.m. Friday-only express to New Haven will still be running.

The 5:36 p.m., 6:38 p.m. and 7:11 p.m. trains to Harrison will not be operating. The 6:17 p.m. to Bridgeport and the 8:04 p.m. train to New Haven will also be out of commission.

The 5:17 p.m. to Harrison and 5:20 p.m. to New Rochelle will be combined, making all stops between Mount Vernon East and Harrison after stopping at Harlem-125th Street. The 5:59 p.m. and 6:02 p.m. trains will also be merged.

The Hudson Rail Link will have a peak number of buses beginning with the 3:20 train from Grand Central. The Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will have an extra ferry meet the 2:54 train. The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will provide additional ferries to meet trains departing from Grand Central at 2:50 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:05 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2

All Metro-North trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.

Monday, Sept. 3

On Labor Day, trains will be running on a regular Sunday schedule, with a few additions to the New Haven Line. There will be two extra express trains that will depart Grand Central at 3:55 p.m. and 7:57 p.m. There will be three extra express trains leaving New Haven at 5:47 p.m., 6:47 p.m. and 7:47 p.m.
