Lightning Gives Peekskill Fireworks An Extra Spark

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Thousands turned out to see Peekskill's annual Fourth of July fireworks display, but Mother Nature also provided some of her own.

Wednesday night's fireworks took place just before a severe thunderstorm blew through the city and the lightning on the horizon provided what spectators said was stunning backdrop for the fireworks display, which was once again paid for by the Peekskill Fire Department through its fundraising efforts.
