Lewisboro: To Stripe Or Not To Stripe The Roads?

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The issue of whether to stripe or restripe some of Lewisboro’s town roads remains unresolved after years of debate. Many residents say painting a line down the center of a road robs it of its rural character and possibly devalues property along that road.

But others believe that striping is a safety issue that should be addressed as the local population increases and road use increases. Some point out that stripes are an aid to senior drivers.

But others say they are a hindrance to cyclists because drivers will not pull out to pass.

Supervisor Peter Parsons and the Lewisboro Town Board have asked residents and those who drive through town to respond to a 10-question survey. They want to establish a general consensus of road users. Click here to take the survey.
