The bond was put up to vote in response to the shootings in Newtown, Conn. in December of last year. With state building aid expected to pick up over 59 percent of the tab, Lakeland tax payers would be on the hook for about $7 million, according to LoHud.com.

Voting on the proposal will take place on Nov. 19, LoHud.com said.
