Kaplowitz – one of the three voting members of the county's Board of Acquisition & Contract – voted to acquired a 2008 Ford E350, a shuttle-type bus for Yorktown.
The truck was previously used by the county's Pararansit system. Westchester County occasionally holds lotteries offering the chance to obtain shuttle vehicles no longer in use to Westchester County cities, towns, villages, boards of cooperative educational services, fire districts and school districts. The town of Yorktown is required to use the vehicle for programs that benefit residents of Westchester County. "This is a great initiative by the county that has much success over the years," said Kaplowitz. "Being able to help people while saving them tax dollars is a key example of how regional government can work for our county's residents.”
