Greeley Grads Find Success in Lacrosse, Pageants

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Matthew Witko and Alanna Olinger are the latest Horace Greeley High School graduates to enter the public eye due to their success in lacrosse and beauty pageants, respectively.

On Dec. 14, Witko was selected 17th overall by the Ohio Machine, an expansion team with Major League Lacrosse, as part of the league's supplemental draft.

Witko, who graduated from Greeley in 2006, went on to star as an All-American midfielder for Tufts University from 2008-2011. In 2010, Witko helped lead Tufts to the first Division III national championship in the school's history.

According to the Chappaqua Central School District, Witko is currently a personal trainer at The Kombine in Mt. Kisco. He plans on attending medical school in the fall and will be a coach with Greeley Youth Lacrosse Association in the spring.

Olinger, Witko's former Greeley schoolmate, will soon be participating in the Miss New York pageant. Olinger also graduated from Greeley in 2006 and went on to earn a psychology degree from Stony Brook University.

Along with wanting to own her own public relations firm in the future, Olinger also hopes to use her pageant exposure to be an anti-bullying advocate. While in college she helped raise money for Prevent Child Abuse in America with her Sigma Delta Tau Sorority.

"I am passionate about helping those who aren't empowered to help themselves, whether it be defenseless children," wrote Olinger on her Facebook page.

Olinger will be vying for the title of "Miss New York" on Jan. 14 and 15 at Purchase College.
