'Great Chappaqua Bake Sale' Raises Nearly $24K

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The Great Chappaqua Bake Sale reported raising almost $24,000 at its seventh-annual gathering.

The annual bake sale took place on Saturday, Sept. 24, and was held in conjunction with the Chappaqua Children's Book Festival, which is another big local event.

"These monies will help connect hungry children in our home state of New York with 240,000 meals," the organized noted in a statement. "Since its inception, The Great Chappaqua Bake Sale has raised close to $125,000 for Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign, which equals 1.25 million meals for needy children."

The statement continued, "Kudos to every single of one you who baked, volunteered, donated money, helped secure raffle items and spread the word about this event. And a special thank you to the numerous children in our community who worked at the bake sale and made sure to stop by and show their support."

The Great Chappaqua Bake Sale has been organized for seven years by three local women: Holly Blum, Allison Spiegel and Jessica Reinmann.
