NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo says Pope Francis’ message is universal and in more ways humanitarian rather than religious, making him the “purest” pope in his lifetime, reports Politico New York .
The governor met the pope during his visit to New York City's St. Patrick's Cathedral on Thursday.
Pope Francis will make will numerous stops in the city Friday, including a multi-religious service at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum at 11:30 a.m., a papal motorcade through Central Park at 5 p.m. and a mass at Madison Square Garden at 6 p.m.
The pope will leave for Philadelphia Saturday morning.
