Courses Open For Chappaqua Continuing Education

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Students won't be the only ones returning to school when classes begin next month.

Chappaqua's Continuing Education program, which offers courses to residents age 18 and older, is back for another year and registration is under way for its fall 2012 session.

The course catalog has been mailed out to residents living in the Chappaqua Central School District but registration is also available online . Officials from the program recommend registering early because most classes have a limited enrollment.

The fall catalog has more 75 courses in painting, music, printmaking, language, gardening, exercise, wine tasting, cooking, and more. There will also be help for the technologically challenged, with courses focusing on Facebook, iPhones, iPads, Photoshop, and emailing. Read the full course catalog online.

If space is available, students can enroll the first night of classes in Horace Greeley High School Building D. Early registration is also recommended because classes maybe canceled if there is insufficient enrollment before the first night.

Refunds will only be made up to one week before the start of a class with a $10 processing fee. It is possible to transfer to another class, if there is an opening. If a class is canceled, a full refund will be provided.

Most courses begin in October and November, and the openings and closings follow the same weather and holiday schedule as the regular district schedule.

The programs are available for anyone over age 18, though students under 18 may register for college prep test, essay writing, guitar and yoga. Senior citizens can receive reduced rates by registering in advance with proof of address and age.
