Chappaqua's Mikolay Hosting Benefit for SPCA

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Desires by Mikolay is rolling out the red carpet on Saturday for a Charity Shopping Cocktail Party to benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Briarcliff.

At the event, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m., the store will continue its promotion of offering jewelry and gift items at a 15 percent discount. Owner Scott Mikolay will donate a portion of all proceeds from the night to the SPCA of Briarcliff, a local no-kill animal shelter.

“Scott and I have three rescue dogs that greatly enrich our lives. To think that they could have been put to sleep due to shelter overcrowding breaks our hearts," said Tara Mikolay, Scott's wife. "We truly recognize how important it is to have a well run no-kill animal shelter in the community in order to place dogs and cats in their forever homes."

Tara hopes to to raise $10,000 for the organization. She believes the goal is within reach as she expects many customers will be looking for last minute holiday gifts. She also said the holiday season is a time that many customers choose to redesign their engagement rings.

“Our clients feel good about getting the 15 percent discount and even better knowing that we are making contributions in their honor to the SPCA of Briarcliff,” said Tara.

Saturday's benefit will feature a reception with hor d’oeuvres and fine wine, donated by Le Jardin and The Wine Enthusiast, respectively. The night will end with a raffle, in which all proceeds will be donated to the SPCA. The event is open to the public.
